Deciding to see a therapist can be a big decision. I provide support and information to new clients in order to help them to clarify their treatment goals, we then work together to develop a treatment plan. The work of therapy often falls into three general areas.
1. Learning new skills, such as communication skills or stress reduction skills. 2. Changing negative thinking patterns and identifying and changing negative beliefs about oneself. 3. Understanding and changing negative patterns of behavior that may have developed from early experiences or trauma.
Areas that may be addressed in individual therapy include the following:
Self-esteem, relationship problems, stress, anxiety, depression, trauma and/or abuse recovery, work and career problems, and a desire for increased personal, spiritual, or creative growth. I work to help women and men feel more self-confident and fulfilled. I also have developed skills in some special techniques to heal trauma reactions and negative patterns from childhood or earlier relationships.
